Mustard seed is also known as “Khardal” in Arabic. Mustard seed is mentioned in the story of Buddha, in which a mother loses her only son and takes the body to the Buddha to find a cure. The Buddha tells her to bring a handful of mustard seeds from a home in her village that has never lost a child, parent, friend or a loved one. When the mother is unable to find such a home she realizes death is common to all and cannot be selfish in her grief.
